Summer Baseball has begun!

Yesterday David and Jack began their 2006 summer baseball league. They both lost but I think they seemed to have a good time. David played 2nd base and right field. He got a lot of action at second. (I think he played more in this one game than he did all of last year!) He batted only twice, but got on both times. The first time he walked and was eventually tagged out at home. The second time he was hit by a pitch and ended up scoring on a hit to left field. Unfortunately he sprained his right ankle and was hit on the left ankle by the pitch. He's fine today though!

Jack played every where, including pitcher and catcher. He almost caught a pop fly when he was pitcher. He did field a grounder at 3rd. And when he was catcher he was actually in the position trying to catch the balls out of the machine. Typically in this league the boys stand behind the batter so they don't get hit!

Jack also batted twice. He had a single the first time, but was left stranded on 3rd. The second at bat he struck out. It was hot, but there was a breeze that kept those of us in the shade of the dugout (I was dug out mom) nice and cool.

This morning we played tennis and went swimming before lunch. I mowed the yards about 1 o'clock and the ground was still wet in places. Unbelievable!
