Hit by a pitch again

Last night was David's second game. They played the Chicago White Sox who are coached by David's coach from last summer. (I won't rehash how much we all disliked last summer season.) David played second and right field and he's one of the few boys who plays the entire game. He got a single on his first at bat. It was a pop fly just into the grass between 1st and 2nd. What made it so sweet was that the other coach who was just trying to encourage his pitcher said,"Let's get this out." David heard that and answered. His next at bat was against the coach's son, Will. He's a pretty good pitcher, but his first pitch went right at David's shoulder. In order to protect himself, David scooted back and put up his hand and the ball hit his wrist with a smack. David was furious and just glared at Will as he walked to first. The other coach came out to see how he was and David told him he was OK.

David's team lost 19-13, but at least they were hitting! We don't have many good pitchers so the other teams just walk in all their runs. After the game most of the boys from both teams ran around the bases and dog piled each other at home plate. David was right in the middle of it all!

Before the game I took Jack and his friend, Lucas, to practice hitting in the batting cages. Then they played in the mud and with the tadpoles in the standing water in the ditches. Jack was filthy when we left 2 and half hours later! But he had fun...you should have seen the grime he left in the tub after his shower...if only the cameras weren't in Idaho.

The cameras are in Boise so we can use them later in Houston. Ha!
