Jack Hits 2nd Homer, Scores Winning Run

Saturday Jack's team pulled out a nail biter against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The temperature was in the mid 40's and it started raining about the 3rd inning. Jack was cold but didn't complain. He played 1st and pitcher. His first at bat he hit a 2 run homer into left field. It was another in-the-park homer. It was a solid line drive right over the short stop's head.

He had a double down third base line and another double that was a pop up just past the short stop. BoBo and Uncle Brian arrived in time to see Jack's last double. He was on 2nd, it was the bottom of the 5th, score tied 5-5, one 0ut. The next batter, Sam, knocked a grounder into right field and Jack scored. Game over!

It was very interesting because of the cold weather. I was amazed at how many parents were babying their boys. BoBo was even more surprised. I'm dugout mom and told one mom not to bring blankets into the dugout because they were boys and could handle it. Needless to say, she didn't listen to me and had all the boys acting like a bunch of wussies under the blankets. By the end a dad had brought an umbrella for his "boy" into the dugout. It wasn't pouring rain, just sort of drizzling. It was really insane. BoBo even joked about bringing an electric blanket next time and some of the parents agreed with him (not realizing he was making fun of them)...wusses!

I was very proud of Jack for not complaining. He was even the first to shuck his jacket during warm up. The rain came in the third inning and just made it miserable, but it was fun and it was good for them to suffer through a little uncomfortable weather. All the other games cancelled when it first started drizzling. I'm glad our coach and our opposing coach agreed to continue.
