Merry Christmas!

The Bear Clan in a Nutshell 2007

Trips: January found us in Winterpark, CO. for a week of skiing and snowboarding. In August, we hit the road to Charlotte, NC with a stop in Auburn, AL to visit friends. We saw Darrin’s new home and caught up with the Samplaski’s. The Clan even caught a minor league game in Charlotte and saw the MLS Champ Houston Dynamo win a game last fall.

Sports: Jack continued his passion for Baseball. He played first base and managed to hit the fence several times from the plate. David tackled gymnastics. Both boys competed in soccer and have taken up martial arts-Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Eleanor continued to dominate in softball...playing left-field and subbing on several teams. She dabbled in Flag Football.
René maintained a strong presence on the mound by pitching in softball. Together Eleanor and Rene were on 3 Championship Softball Teams. SEAL PT is still in Rene’s daily regimen. The whole family participated in the President’s Fitness Challenge in the spring through their home school co-op and faired very well! In 2008, the MS150 is Rene’s next challenge.

Cub Scouts: David is a Webelo II and is one activity pin away from being a Super Achiever. He is also working on the Arrow of Light which is the highest achievement in Cub Scouts. Jack completed his Tiger Badge in the spring and is now working on his Wolf Badge.

The Boys: David is a natural leader as he coaches his fellow teammates on and off the field. His leadership qualities are very apparent during scouting events where he helps all the younger scouts with their uniforms and Bobcat requirements. David (10) is in 5th grade and studying the Eastern Hemisphere Countries this year. Jack (7) will finish 2nd grade (World History II) before Christmas. Both boys play piano. David switched from guitar to piano for a change of pace. He plans to resume guitar after the Spring recital.

Work: René is in his 7th year with HP.
René and Eleanor have become the Intramural Coordinators for the singles at Houston's First Baptist Church. They organize and plan various adult sporting events such as flag football and softball seasons and one day tournaments. They love it!

René and Eleanor celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary!
