Talking Donkeys

Balaam answered the donkey, "You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now." Numbers 22:29

Let that verse sink in for a moment.  A grown man answers a talking donkey and is worried about being seen as foolish.

That’s like cursing the stupid couch because you stubbed your toe.  Or yelling at the darn coffee table because you cracked your shin.

But for Balaam the cost was not a sprained toe or a swollen shin…it would have been his life.  Scripture says the donkey that Balaam was riding saw the angel of the Lord waiting to kill Balaam.  In his disobedience, Balaam was oblivious to the angel that would have taken his life.

At times we flirt with sin oblivious that our life depends on every decision or road we choose to take.

Sometimes it takes an ass to make us a donkey to realize our mistakes.
