First Day of Co-op

Yesterday was our first day of co-op with Garden Oaks Baptist Church. We survived! It was fun, crazy, and long. David and Jack had PE together. We did a fitness test to see where all the kids were after the summer break. David did really well. According to the standards he is fit for sit ups, push ups and running. He needs to work on pull ups and his flexibility. He ran a mile in 11:46. The minimum fitness standard for his age is 12:00. He can run it a lot faster, but he hasn't run since June!
Jack had a little harder time with PE. He did well on push ups and pull ups, but only made it 400 meters of the mile! He didn't listen to the instructions about having to run 4 laps, so he tore off the finish line and beat everyone on the first lap. When I told him he had three more he just started crying. It was all down hill from there. Let's just say he "pulled a Jack". He did straighten up his act and was able to do Kinder Musik and art without any trouble.
David also had public speaking and art. He told me he really enjoyed the day. Plus he went to spend the night at a friend's house and if the rain holds off, he will get a chance at earining his Fitness Pin for Cub Scouts. Oh, yeah, David joined Cub Scouts. He's officially a Webelo and his first den meeting is Monday. We bought his uniform yesterday at the scout store. He was in hog's heaven in the store. They had every type of gadget you could ever want for camping and hiking. He had his eye on all the badges and pins, anticipating earning them. David is going to make a great scout!
Jack wants to be a Tiger Scout, but we are going to wait until he attends a few den meetings to make sure he really wants to do it. Tiger scouts is very parent intensive and I don't know if we are up to the challenge just yet!
